William Pate, president and CEO of the Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACVB), is responsible for maintaining tourism as one of Atlanta’s top economic drivers. A native of Atlanta, last year Pate received the lifetime achievement award from the Atlanta chapter of the American Marketing Association. He has won numerous other local awards, and the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International has honored him as one of the top 25 most extraordinary minds in sales and marketing. He’s also a leader in the Atlanta sports industry, having served on the boards of the Atlanta Sports Council, Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl and Chick-fil-A College Football Hall of Fame. He serves on boards for Central Atlanta Progress, Children’s Museum of Atlanta, First Tee Atlanta, the Metro Chamber and Woodruff Arts Center. Pate is a Georgia State University alum and has an undergrad degree in journalism and graduate degree in communications.
